Our Legal Designation, EIN and Mission are listed below:
The Institute of Range and American Mustang (IRAM) founded by Dayton O. Hyde in 1987 is a 501 © 3 non-profit corporation registered in the state of South Dakota
The Institute’s Federal tax number (EIN) is 46-0401462.
IRAM owns 11,000 acres of private land dedicated to range preservation and a balanced ecosystem. IRAM’s finest gift is the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary, whose purpose is to provide not only freedom for the hundreds of unadoptable andunwanted wild horses that make their home on the Sanctuary, but also a research area dedicated to solving wild horse herd management that will contribute to the well-being of wild horses everywhere.
Every year there are fences to build and mend, water tanks to maintain, mineral to distribute, hay to purchase and feed during the winter, veterinarian costs, haying equipment to maintain, and fuel costs for the tractors and trucks used to care for the mustangs. 89% of all donated dollars by our donors go directly to the care of the wild horses that make their home on the Sanctuary. Your donations go to help provide a quality life of freedom for the wild horses. Thank you!
