Special Calf Needs
Boone, the red angus bull calf, was born Sunday, February 22. Everything went great, he was nursed and cleaned by his mother #25. The ranch crew gave him his first shot, tagged him and put iodine on his navel. Monday morning he wandered out on the ice and injured his back leg. He was given a bottle of electrolytes, calf replacement milk and put in the horse barn and calf warmer. The little calf was weakened and almost frozen from his time on the ice.
Seeing Boone was having trouble standing, he was helped to get up and nurse his mom. That did not seem to give him enough energy so feeding bottles of milk were scheduled and Boone is now one of our bottle calves.
Due to his injured leg, Boone was carried to the Vet and now has to be kept in a an enclosed area with his mother and fed three to four times a day by ranch crew. His Medicated Calf Milk Replacement runs about $125 a bag. If you can help by donating for Special Calf Needs you will be allowing this calf to heal and have a life in spite of his leg injury. Thank you for you kindness and support.
